Bravely Default Producer Keen on Annualizing the Fledgling JRPG Series

Posted on December 26, 2013 AT 11:00am

Bravely series producer Tomoya Asano is keen on releasing a new title in the series each year and hopes to get Bravely Second out in Japan in 2014, the developer told Gengeki Online in a recent interview.

“Personally, I’m aiming to release a game for the Bravely series at least once a year,” Asano told Dengeki (translated by Siliconera). “So, we’d like to release Bravely Second for sometime in 2014.”

Bravely Second, a direct sequel to Bravely Default: Flying Fairy set several years after the events of the first game, was officially announced earlier this month. The sequel’s tone is described as being geared more toward adults, with a similar anime-inspired art style but with more realistic proportions and a less chibi-flair. As for the status of the sequel, Asano says the team has completed the scenario outline and are now working on the artwork.

Bravely Default debuted in Japan October 2012 and was released in Europe this month. It arrives in North America February 7. A free demo will be available on the 3DS eShop January 2.
