Former Bulletstorm Dev Team ‘The Astronauts’ Not Making A FPS

Although a first-person shooter would be easy money for “The Astronauts”—a new development team made up of former Bulletstorm developers from People Can Fly—it’s not happening. If not a FPS, what’s up?
It seems like a shooter or a mobile game would be the safest, more profitable projects to start, but a recent post from The Astronauts’ says that they’re listening to commenters on various websites. Everyone’s making assumptions about the team’s first project, and they’re debunking them one-by-one:
Also, some people apparently already know what is the game that we are making. The_Horrorist says: “Another Unreal engine license, another shooter, another been there done that“, Shatupon says: “I liked Bulletstorm, but I’d rather see something a bit different. Another shooter on the UR3 engine is so typical.” (both on IGN) and Kirielson on Polygon says: “Yea…another unreal engine game… /sarcasm“. Guys, we are not making a shooter. Let us repeat that: we are not making a shooter. And it’s actually silly to talk about “yet another Unreal Engine game” when some of the best, most unique games in the world are made with exactly that particular tech (Bioshock, Mass Effect, Dishonored, etc.).
Not only are The Astronauts not making a shooter, they’re also not doing a mobile game, which would be an assured money-maker due to the huge install base amongst iOS and Android customers. They also confirmed that former Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski isn’t joining the team, either:
Finally, totakeke on C&VG says: “Got a feeling Cliffy B may end up here too. He seemed to be pretty interested in People Can Fly.“. We can confirm it’s 100% not the case.
