Bungie has continued its teasing of the upcoming Exotic weapon changes in Destiny 2.
The developer has shared another hands-on preview of an Exotic that will handle differently once season three launches on May 8th. As seen in the tweet below, the pulse rifle Graviton Lance will be one of the rare weapons to get a power boost in the coming weeks.

Overall, the gun seems to fire its pulse ammo in the same way as the current build of the Graviton Lance. However, the video reveals that once a round hits an enemy, it creates a pulse grenade that can attach to other nearby enemies for widespread damage. Apart from delivering a powerful blow, the chain effect seems to be a great update to the pulse rifle, as the weapon type hasn’t always been the best choice for taking on multiple enemies at once.
This marks the third preview Bungie has given Guardians of its planned overhaul of Exotics. Recently, a developer blog post included a gameplay preview of the updated Sturm and Drang weapons. Unlike the Graviton Lance, the companion Exotics won’t pack a huge punch when used alone. Instead, Bungie plans to add perks to both weapons, such as ammo refills, that will make them more usable together.
While the upcoming season three tweaks are welcome, it’s important to note that not all Exotics will be reworked. According to Destiny 2‘s latest development roadmap, the developer is focusing on tweaking the Exotics that don’t get used as often as others to offer Guardians more choices on the battlefield.
In addition to the Exotics update, several other mechanics will be upgraded in season three. In PvE, damage scaling will be increased to make enemies more difficult, even for max level players. Guardians will also be able to enjoy all Crucible maps outside of private matches, including those that were previously locked behind the game’s expansions.
Destiny 2 is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
