A new video documentary from Bungie titled “Out Here in the Wild” overviews a number of Destiny‘s gameplay components.
“What I believe is going to be most exciting for people who play Destiny is the social experience of colliding with other people in this big world,” writer and design director Joseph Staten says in the video. “It’s not something that happens in most action games.”
Staten and other members of Bungie’s development team touch upon a variety of aspects to Destiny, including the importance of character class and race in terms of appearance and progression, how each player will have three weapon slots (primary, special, and heavy), the way seamless matchmaking affords easy transition from solo adventuring to group journeys, and the diversity of game types built into Destiny (campaign missions, strikes, raids, public events that naturally occur in the world, and competitive multiplayer).
Destiny launches on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360 spring 2014.
