Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare making-of video explores animation and art direction

Posted on July 1, 2014 AT 01:36pm

The latest behind-the-scenes video for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare takes a peak at the motion capture, animation, and art direction processes behind making this year’s entry immersive CoD to date.

In the video (above), animation director Christopher Stone and art director Joe Salud discuss their respective crafts, highlighting several techniques Sledgehammer employed to give Advanced Warfare all the little details and nuance that lend themselves to player engagement. One step, of coursing, was hiring top-tier talent like Kevin Spacey as Jeremy Irons. Other means includes building a separate, second character skeleton on top of the normal character animation to give the exoskeletal armor its own suite of articulated, moving parts and animations.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare launches on Windows PC, PS4, Xbox One, and PS3 November 4.
