Zombies will play a big part in Call of Duty: Black Ops II, getting their world premier later this month. Activision just released a new video showing off what the survival horror mode look like, and it’s pretty grim.
In what looks like a post-nuclear blast version of the Nuke Town map, the trailer below shows a decaying bus parked outside of a tour stop—menacingly.
After a quick cut, we suddenly see the type of zombies that you’ll be dealing with in the game—the annoyingly fast and slightly intelligent 28 Days Later variety.
In the last scene, the bus is pulling away while an undead horde chases after it, with one of them pulling apart the boarded-up windows. Pretty ominous stuff, and the laugher over the audio track is a little unnerving.
Black Ops 2‘s zombie mode supports up to 8 players via co-op, according to the developers.
We’re not sure, but it seems like every Treyarch Call of Duty will have a zombie mode from now on, following the success that Activision saw with Call of Duty: World at War. On the other side of coin, Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare games have yet to do so, clearly opting to keep as much realism (well, as much as possible) in the combat as possible.
