THE BUZZ: Over one million users have signed up for a paid membership with Activision’s Call of Duty: Elite service.
Elite memberships were included with Hardened Editions of modern Warfare 3 or are available separately on Xbox Live and PlayStation network for $49.99. Over four million users have signed up for the service since it launched on November 8th, including the free tier of membership. ”The audience response to Call of Duty Elite’s premium service has been beyond our expectations, and we want to thank Call of Duty players around the world for their unprecedented enthusiasm,” said Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick. ”The number of gamers who have registered for Call of Duty Elite further illustrates how this service is poised to redefine social gaming and set a new bar for interactive entertainment.”
EGM’s TAKE: Despite its troubled start the users are still throwing their money down for the service with the promise that the service will be running at full capacity by December 1.
