Infinity Ward has unveiled a new map for Call of Duty: Ghosts known as Stonehaven, set in a medieval castle.
Stonehaven is a large map based on European castles and is designed to give snipers a chance to shine, but there’s also plenty of close quarters action to be had inside the castle walls. “When we’re designing maps, we have to cater to a couple of different types of gameplay and players in their habits,” Infinity Ward community manager Tina Palacios told Eurogamer.
“We didn’t want to alienate people who love to fight in close quarters, but we needed a big map. Then we looked to Europe.
“We always want to add a variety regardless of what the story setting may be,” Palacios added. “It’s evolved a lot over time. When we first made it we thought it would maybe be just a harbor with a bunch of ships on a sandy beach. Then it became what it is now. And we like the look much better than what we had in the past.”
As with all Call of Duty: Ghosts maps, Stonehaven can be altered during a match using dynamic events. In the case of this map pathways can be closed off and opened via gates. You can check out some screenshots below.
