Call of Duty: Ghosts Officially Unveiled, Higher Polygon Counts, a Man’s Best Friend, Player Customization, and More

Posted on May 21, 2013 AT 11:21am

As promised Activision and Infinity Ward has unveiled Call of Duty: Ghosts to the world. There’s much higher graphical fidelity, a dog, multiplayer character customization, and that’s just the beginning.

Activision’s Eric Hirshberg took to the stage at the Xbox One reveal to confirm that the game will run on a new next generation engine and be set in a new universe with new characters. Traffic and Syrianna writer Stephen Gaghan has penned the game’s story which sees the American military crippled. The Ghosts team is comprised of elite soldiers from several different groups who have adopted the most effective fighting styles from around the world.

Not only do you get some new characters, but for the first time in the franchise’s history you get a dog for an ally. He will protect the team from attackers and sniff out bombs, among other things. There are also a few tweaks to gameplay, players can now lean around corners to get a better view and can slide along the ground before firing.

Ghosts‘ multiplayer introduces dynamic maps which see certain areas flooding, destroy-able doors, traps, and wildlife. Players can customize their avatars fully, including their armor, clothing, and helmet. Finally the game will feature Kinect voice commands, co-op, and second screen functionality.

As with the Xbox 360 all Call of Duty: Ghosts DLC will be a timed exclusive on Xbox One.
