Call of Duty: Ghosts pre-orders at “select retailers” will land players a free multiplayer map called Free Fall, Activision announced today.
Free Fall is set high atop the point where one skyscraper has collided with another. The map is what Infinity Ward describes as “dynamic,” in that the layout changes as the match progress. In Free Fall’s case, the portion of skyscraper bridging the two buildings will collapse further at certain points in the match. These plummets not only alter the battle landscape, but can also kill players crushed beneath the falling segments.
“Dynamic map events change the way players approach the game, and Free Fall does a great job illustrating this new mechanic,” wrote executive producer Mark Rubin in a press release. “As the match progresses, the geometry of the world continues to change and players need to adjust on the fly or else. It’s a really fun new feature that adds layers of strategy and constantly evolving gameplay options for players. And this is just one of the many new approaches we’re putting into Ghosts’ multiplayer across the board.”
Activision has yet to specific which retailers will offer Free Fall as a pre-order bonus.
Call of Duty: Ghosts launches on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC November 5, with PS4 and Xbox One versions to follow.
