Call of Duty

A Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 remaster may be on the way, according to a recent retailer listing.

As IGN Italia spotted, the Italian version of Amazon recently created a listing for “Cod MW2 Remastered.” The listing shows both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game, with a release date of April 30th and a price of €19.99 (approximately $25 US dollars).

This wouldn’t be the first Modern Warfare game to receive a remaster. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered released alongside Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare in late 2016. Strangely, though, the listed the price for the potential Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is actually less than the usual price of Modern Warfare Remastered, which is currently selling for $34.99 with Amazon Prime.

It’s also unusual for the game to have such an early release date. An April release date leaves Activision with a little over one month to announce and advertise the game. While it’s possible that Activision plans to make the game’s reveal a surprise, It’s possible that the listed date could simply be a placeholder.

At the moment, this listing is the only evidence we have of a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. In fact, an earlier image purportedly showing GameStop’s computer system pointed to an entirely different remaster: Call of Duty: World at War. We’ll keep an eye out for any official announcement from Activision.
