Activision is reportedly leading the charge in game sales for 2017, with Call of Duty: WWII and Destiny 2 as the two best-selling console games in North America.
According to a statement by Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg, Call of Duty: WWII sits in the number one slot for console games, making more than $1 billion since its launch in early November. This continues the Call of Duty series’ run as the top selling console game franchise in North America for the ninth year in a row. Coming in at number two for 2017, Destiny 2 not only sold second best on consoles in North America, it was also Activision’s biggest PC launch in history.
All above rankings are based on revenue earned, with the exception of Destiny 2‘s PC launch, which is based on units sold. Activision’s 2017 success didn’t stop with Call of Duty: WWII and Destiny 2. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy managed to earn an accolade of its own, as the best selling remastered collection in PS4 history.
