Call of Duty

Prestiging in Call of Duty: WWII could leave players unable to accept Orders as the result of a crippling multiplayer bug.

While not ubiquitous, multiple reports of the issue have recently surfaced on the Call of Duty: WWII subreddit. Afflicted players have deduced that the bug is seemingly caused by the game thinking you are a new player after prestiging, resetting the game’s Welcome to Headquarters quest that tasks new players with taking a tour of the game’s Headquarters social space. Aside from the inconvenience, players will no longer be able to pick up Orders from Major Howard after this, which can be a painful hindrance as Orders are a significant tool in player progression. At the very least, weapon Prestiges and Division Prestiges do not seem to be affected.

YouTuber TheQishy offers a clear depiction of the bug in action.

The issue appears to be most prolific on PC but not exclusive to that platform. The developer has seemingly yet to comment on the issue—a primary point of contention for the community in the bug’s Reddit thread—and WWII‘s first multiplayer update does not address it either.

We at EGM didn’t face any of these issues during our time with the game—as reflected in our fairly positive review—but those on the fence about the shooter may want to wait and see how the issue gets handled.

Nick didn’t start gaming until mid-2006. Once his parents finally allowed a console into the house, it was all uphill from there. Starting out with a PS2, he grew an affinity for Sony consoles and moved on to the PS3, and now the PS4. He keeps his gaming palette wide, but, gun to his head, he’d have to say shooters are his genre of choice. Find him on Twitter @idole808
