Call of Duty

An allegedly bugged Call of Duty: WWII menu seems to have revealed the shooter’s total multiplayer map count during its recent PC open beta.

Several images were recently posted to Reddit by user Trevormine, one of which appears to show the full selection of WWII‘s multiplayer maps, clocking in at only 10.

Trevormine claims the menu became available due to a “glitch while leaving a match”, but PC players are notorious for data mining betas, so it is possible that the leaks were more intentionally uncovered than the user lets on. While we don’t yet have visuals, the potential names of the five previously unconfirmed maps are listed as Battleship, Cannon Farm, Carentan, France Village, and London.

The game would purportedly crash when Trevormine attempted to explore the maps, so we don’t know much about them aside from the names. There could possibly be more maps planned for the game that weren’t included in this build, but fans will have to wait for an official word from developer Sledgehammer Games to know for sure.

If, however, this is the full list, it’s a little concerning. A selection of just 10 maps, with one—Carentan—rumored to be a remaster of the Call of Duty 2 map of the same name, and possibly a pre-order bonus of some kind, would very much be on the low end for the series. For comparison, Sledgehammer’s last game, Advanced Warfare, shipped with 13 maps, as well as one addition pre-order bonus map that was a remake from a previous game.

Still, one saving grace may be that the list doesn’t appear to include the maps for War mode, which are only playable in that specific mode. Depending on your perspective, that may balance out the lack of traditional multiplayer maps. Then again, if you’re only excited to play standard game modes, it may not.

The Reddit post includes a total of 19 different images, several of which also seem to confirm WWII‘s version of the series’ popular Uplink multiplayer mode, called Gridiron, which the developer teased this past summer.

Call of Duty: WWII is slated to launch November 3rd on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
