Here comes the boom
THE BUZZ: Microsoft revealed a special Limited Edition Modern Warfare 3 Xbox 360 that will coincide with the launch of the game in November.
WHAT WE KNOW: Continuing their strong relationship with Microsoft, who get all Call of Duty DLC first, Microsoft and Activision unveiled a metallic gray Xbox 360 with the MW3 logo on it as their latest in what will now be a string of Limited Edition Xbox 360s to go with Gears of War 3 in a couple of weeks and Kinect Star Wars in early 2012. Along with the bundle, the Xbox 360 will include the 320 GB hard drive, the largest available for the system, a pair of MW3 metallic gray controllers and a copy of the game. Taking a page out of the R2-D2 Star Wars Xbox 360, it was also announced that the system will have unique noises as well including the sound of Night Vision goggles powering on when you turn on your system. Also announced was a custom MW3 blue-tooth headset and docking station that is sold separately from the system.
EGM’S TAKE: Activision and Microsoft have worked before on custom systems to coincide with game releases, so this is no surprise. The timing though may not be the best with a pair of other Limited Edition systems on the horizon, and I know I personally would rather have the Gears of War 3 or Kinect Star Wars system, but those are just personal preferences. Although no price was officially given for the bundle, it is safe to assume it would be along the same lines as those announced for the Gears of War 3 and Kinect Star Wars bundles. It is also curious that the Kinect Star Wars bundle was just announced to have been delayed into early 2012 from what was expected by many to be a mid-November sales slot.
