Capcom Announces Marvel vs. Capcom Origins for XBLA, PSN

The idea of characters from the Capcom and Marvel universes fighting it out was once a crazy idea—and now, Capcom is going back to those early days of the pairing to release two classic Marvel vs. Capcom titles for XBLA and PSN.
Titled Marvel vs. Capcom Origins, this collection will contain 1995′s Marvel Super Heroes and 1998′s Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes. The first isn’t technically a Marvel vs. Capcom game—it is centered around a variety of Marvel characters battling it out against Thanos—but it was still one of the games to lay the ground work for the Vs. series that was to come.
As well, the original Marvel vs. Capcom isn’t technically the first time the two sides faced off—that came two years earlier, when in 1996 Capcom released X-Men vs. Street Fighter. Still, it’s the first real chapter of what is now one of Capcom’s most popular fighting franchises, so it’s nice to get that chance to go back and play the game again.
Unsurprisingly, Marvel vs. Capcom Origins will come with a variety of options, from selectable graphical filters, to challenges and achievements, to online versus support with things such as spectator modes and savable replays.
Marvel vs. Capcom Origins will hit this September for the Xbox Live Arcade (1200 MS Points) and the PlayStation Network ($14.99).
