Capcom Explains Why Resident Evil 6 Pre-Order Bonuses Were Announced Early

THE BUZZ: Capcom has explained why it announced Resident Evil 6′s pre-order bonuses way before the game is due to launch in November.
Capcom’s Marketing Staff member “Mikeeb” explained: “Gamestop, Best Buy, and Amazon will all be getting an ‘exclusive map’ that can be used for various game modes that will be detailed at a later date. Basically we wanted you guys to know that if you pre-order now you’ll definitely be getting a bonus at launch. Complete details on these maps and how you’ll be able to use them will be spilled in the coming months.”
EGM’s TAKE: It appears that each retailer will be getting a separate exclusive map, however without any details of what that map is or how it can be used it’s difficult to make a decision of which retailer you should place your pre-order with. For now your safest best would be to place your pre-order with whoever you feel most comfortable with, if you like the look of another map once details emerge then you can easily cancel your pre-order and switch to the other. The chances are that all the pre-order maps will be made available to download after the game launches anyway, so you won’t miss out even if you choose to stick with your original choice. At least we hope so, because there is nothing we hate worse than companies offering competing in-game content for pre-orders and making it so there is no way to get every piece of content for your game (unless you order multiple copies of the game). However, at the end of the day your not going to be pre-ordering the game this early for an “exclusive map,” your going to be doing it because you’re damn excited for Resident Evil 6 and you want to send a message that you’re waiting.
