Capcom Launches Official Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Website, Tournament

Posted on June 12, 2012 AT 01:52pm

In celebration of their flagship series’ 25th anniversary (no, not that series), Capcom has launched a new website for the Street Fighter franchise, complete with tons of fan-submitted content.

Integrating with YouTube, social media, and cribbing what looks like some code from Facebook’s “Timeline” feature, fans can submit content to the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary website, sharing their favorite moments from the game series’ long history. Anyone can add to the page’s content by uploading videos and photos, all of which will get sorted and dropped into the site.

Aside from the interactive art gallery and the impressively-stocked store (Look! Chun-Li bobble-heads!), you can also register for a very special tournament.

Slated to hit San Francisco, Los Angeles, Texas, New York, Taiwan, England, and Brazil, the qualifying rounds for a $500,000 cash tournament kick off on July 28th this year. According to the official heads-up, you can even win a Scion FR-S Sports Coupe:

The Street Fighter X Tekken winner will be handed the keys to an all-new custom designed Scion FR-S Sports Coupe. Capcom has partnered with Scion, Five Axis and Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA), to create a one-of-a-kind Street Fighter-themed sports car, complete with video entertainment hardware from SCEA and a modified exterior from Five Axis including a custom FIVE:AD aero kit, spoiler, wheels, as well as many more premiere components from leading automotive aftermarket companies.

Feel confident enough in your Street Fighter X Tekken, Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online, and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD skills? Or are you just going to let someone else waltz into the victory rounds unchallenged?
