Resident Evil 6 Uses Two Discs On Xbox 360, For Localization Purposes
Posted on September 19, 2012 AT 04:45pm
Capcom’s Resident Evil 6 figures to be a large release, possibly the biggest in the video game franchise’s history. As such, there’s been interesting quirks in its development, not least of all the Xbox 360 version.
As Videogamer found out from the developer, RE6 will be shipping on two discs for that console, although it won’t force you to stop and switch anything during gameplay.
Instead, the second disc only contains “localised content” with support for multiple languages. For customers in the UK, that makes the entire thing “redundant” (although the extra DVD will make a lovely coaster), but one has to wonder if that’s all that’s really on the second disc.
At the very least, the extra disc is probably more favorable than a patch.
Some developers have noted that Microsoft charges and exorbitant amount of money for patches, often forcing the studios to pay thousands of dollars depending on the brand and contract terms.
Regardless, PlayStation 3 players in any region won’t have a problem with disc swapping, since Resident Evil 6‘s localization content seems to fit just fine on the Blu-ray disc without taking up any leftover storage space.
