Capcom Reveals Fresh Resident Evil 6 Details

THE BUZZ: Capcom has teased a few more details about Resident Evil 6, the first since its official reveal last month.
First Capcom spoke about the mysterious third protagonist, who didn’t seem in the best of moods in the trailer. ”We’re still trying to track down his real identity,” the publisher wrote. ”But we do know this man is a mercenary.” This third character appears in the trailer alongside Chris Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy, but appears to be in a different part of the world however.
The mercenary’s sections are set in an Eastern European conflict where killing mutants appears to be just another day at the office. His blonde female partner also remains anonymous.
Chris Redfield is currently in China, or more specifically Lanshiang, a fictional town on the Chinese coast, Capcom revealed. According to the publisher, Chris is currently recovering from a ”personal trauma” suffered six months ago, the origin of which wasn’t shared.
Leon’s support officer is Ingrid Hunnigan from Resident Evil 4, and his new partner will be Helena Harper, a Government agent charged with protecting the President.
Capcom finally confirmed that Resident Evil 6 takes place in 2013, 15 years after the original Resident Evil and four years after Resident Evil 5.
EGM’s TAKE: Capcom has really spoiled us with all this new information, however the big mystery is this third protagonist. He’s obviously a character we’ve never seen before in the franchise but could he be one we’ve heard about? It seems odd to keep him shrouded in such mystery. Also what could this “personal trauma” that Chris suffered be? Maybe it has something to do with Jill Valentine, throughout the trailer you can hear him cursing an unnamed woman. It appears that Resident Evil 6 may actually get the series back on track after a slight detour with the fifth entry. If Capcom confirms that Nemesis will be making a comeback then I’ll be queuing up several days before release to get a copy, but sadly that’s unlikely to happen … on both fronts.
What would you like to see added to this entry? Leave your thoughts below.
