Capcom VP Wants Stronger Single-Player Content for Future Fighting Games

Posted on April 16, 2013 AT 02:43pm

In a post on the Capcom Unity Forums, vice president Christian Svensson said the company is looking to beef up single-player content in their fighting game franchises.

“The strategic marketing group here has for quite a while been pushing for our fighting franchises to have more and better single player content, of which full fledged story modes are one component,” Svensson wrote in a now locked forum about story modes in Capcom fighting games. “How and when those requirements manifest in our future roadmap, I’m not prepared to speak about at this time.”

So perhaps, then, the next wave of Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom games will have greater single-player content? Doubtful Svensson is referring to padding existing games with single-player content, and a fifth Street Fighter and fourth MVC are no doubt planned—especially considering imminent release of next-gen consoles.

It’s been four years since Street Fighter IV, and two years since Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Think it’s time for new installments?

Want more single-player content when those new installments come? After recently playing Injustice: Gods Among Us, which has a sizable amount of story content, I’m certainly not opposed.
