Capcom Wants Future Devil May Cry Games, Other Titles To Come Out More Often

It’s taken a while for Capcom to bring the next chapter of the Devil May Cry series to fruition, but the developer hopes future titles will come much faster—another with future titles in their other franchises.
“For DMC Devil May Cry, development will require five years due to the time needed to select development companies because of our decision to switch to external development,” said Capcom COO and president Haruhiro Tsujimoto as part of an investment statement. “But, our goal is to reduce the cycle to 2.5 years for subsequent titles in this series.”
It isn’t just Devil May Cry that the company wants to turn around faster, however—Capcom wants to reduce the time needed for development of all major titles to drop from a current schedule of three to four years, down to an average of 2.5 years.
“Speeding up development will probably raise the cost. But creating quality content will be vital to Capcom’s ability to survive by overcoming intense global competition,” Tsujimoto noted. “We will make substantial investments to develop this content.”
