Carmen Sandiego Set To Become a Movie, Jennifer Lopez Involved

Posted on June 27, 2012 AT 05:33pm

Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? Coming to a movie theater screen near you, it would seem.

Yes, today The Hollywood Reported brought word that Walden Media has picked up the rights to make a feature film based around the long-running and beloved edutainment Carmen Sandiego game series. The movie is set to be written by Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After, Jack the Giant Killer), and is being produced in part by Jennifer Lopez—who also has her eye on potentially playing the role of Carmen Sandiego.

You know—as eager as I was to initially write this off as crazy, maybe it isn’t so crazy after all. If the movie can get a good script that is family friendly without being overly cheesy or brain-dead, it could be a fun adventure flick.

So, hey, why not? And really, after Battleship, ideas like this don’t sound nearly as ridiculous anymore.

What do you think of the idea of a Carmen Sandiego movie? Will you be ready to find it at a theater near you, or do you hope the idea stays hidden forever?
