A casting call posted to NYC Castings seemingly reveals details for a Deus Ex–related character, Superannuation reports.
The casting call does not specifically reference Deus Ex or Eidos Montreal, but does outline that the motion capture gig is for for a “confidential video game” and that the project is shooting in Montreal, Canada. And the description itself is, well, as Deus Ex-y as they get.
The role in question, a character named Hiroshi Saito, calls for an actor that “should appear Japanese” and is in their early 30s, between 5’8” and 6′ with an athletic build.
“Hiroshi Saito is an Illuminati Shadow Agent,” reads the role’s description. “His current assignment is to infiltrate the Augmented Rights Coalition, to replace its leader and to discredit its movement by committing a series of attacks int heir names. He is fierce, unsympathetic, cunning, and arrogant. Disciplined, unemotional, intelligent, gritty. He has a mild Japanese accent, able to range from professional with his superiors, militant when undercover, and smirky when talking to enemies.”
Earlier this month, developer Eidos Montreal announced a new Deus Ex title was in development for Windows PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. They also revealed Deus Ex: Universe, described as “a connected game world built across a generation of core games” that encompass console releases and mobile devices, books, and graphic novels.
If we’re lucky, Hiroshi Saito is the protagonist of the next proper installment of Deus Ex. I’d really be down for a Japanese main character and some time in futuristic Japanese cities that evoke Neuromancer‘s Chiba City.
