Capcom community liaison Greg “Gregaman” Moore has produced a new video that details the history of Strider Hiryu and the Strider series.

Strider first debuted simultaneously in North American and Japanese arcades in March 1989, meaning that next month the series turns 25. Before that, of course, the series gets its first new entry in very, very long while (Strider, as a character, has spent most of the time between now and 1990 appearing in Marvel vs. Capcom games) with the release of Double Helix’s retelling.

Said Strider retelling (which is just a more civil way of saying “reboot”) lands on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and Windows PC February 18.
