CCP Announces EVE Online: Retribution

Over the weekend at the VETO EVE fan gathering in London, England, CCP announced that EVE Online‘s 18th expansion, Retribution, will be releasing this December.

This latest expansion promises to bring some of the biggest changes to EVE‘s fundamental systems ever. The first major change is to the game’s bounty system, usually if a player breaks the law then a bounty can be placed on their heads if their security level is high enough, this is a way of trying to dissuade people from breaking the game’s laws. However, now anyone can place a bounty on anyone for whatever reason, bounties can even be placed on Corporations. CCP feels that this will allow the community to decide on their own who is bad and deserves punishment.

Several of the game’s ships will also be getting overhauls as part of the update, with the plan being to make the game’s lower tier of ships more useful and easier to understand. On top of this all ships are being adjusted to fit certain categories–Combat, Attack, Disruption, Support, Exploration, and Mining. Finally there are a ton of tweaks and balance changes being made to the game, as to be expected with any expansion.

What do you think of this latest expansion?
