The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red has been working on Cyberpunk 2077 for a while now, but it seems that the team also has a second, secret project in the works.
CD Projekt RED recently released a management board report (PDF link), which details the company’s workings in 2017. While it doesn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know about Cyberpunk 2077, the document makes a few references to an unannounced, AAA, “story-driven RPG.”
The document clarifies that Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release before 2021, and apparently this new game will also release within the same time frame. It doesn’t mention anything about the name of the game, whether it’s part of the existing The Witcher series, or if it’s an entirely new project. However, since the document tracks the progress of the company from 2017 onwards, it seems that it must be a fairly new project that only got started last year.
CD Projekt Red recently revealed that it’s building Cyberpunk 2077 “on current and next generation technology,” so we can probably assume that this unnamed AAA game will also be “ready to interface with future generations.”
At the moment, neither game has a release date, but we can expect both Cyberpunk 2077 and this new title to release before 2021.
