CD Projekt Working on Next-Gen Engine, Two AAA Titles Lined-up for 2014/15

THE BUZZ: CD Projekt has revealed that it is already working on the next-gen engine that will power two AAA titles in 2014 and 2015.
Managing Director Adam Badowski has confirmed that the developer is set to release two new games by 2015 which ”are definitely starting for new consoles.” Both games will run on a new engine that the team’s already started to work on, he added.
“We prepared a backlog for the new features quite a long time ago. You probably know that we’ve decided to develop our new engine that is called Red Engine, so we’ve prepared a long-term plan for that engine. So we are yes, yes we are developing some features just for the new [engine],” he explained.
Head of marketing Michal Platkow-Gilewski added, ”We are anticipating what the new generations of consoles may be.”
Finally Badowski confirmed that one of the titles is an RPG: ”The whole scenario is quite simple: we’re going to create almost exactly the same kind of team, and our policy is to create RPG games for mature audiences. But of course the second title will be different than the first one. We need to change universe and gameplay mechanics, but the game will be based on a deep scenario as [are] The Witcher games.”
EGM’s TAKE: Has CD Projekt seen the new consoles? Highly unlikely as Badowski and Platkow-Gilewski both explained that they are simply guessing what the power of the next-generation will be, let’s hope they are right or these games may not be completed in time for their speculative release windows. Based on the graphics that the team manged to push out of the Xbox 360, we’re incredibly excited to see what they can do with even more powerful machines, including how they will enhance their PC version.
