Here is a new trailer for the direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2.
I am really excited for Final Fantasy XIII-2, and this trailer just adds more fuel to the fire. For those that hated that Final Fantasy XIII was very linear at first, you’ll be happy to know that Final Fantasy XIII-2 will a more open world set up. One of my favorite aspects of Final Fantasy XIII, the battle system, will be returning with only minor changes. Two of those changes will be some quick time events, and the ability to summon monsters into battle as your 3rd party member.
This time around you will start out playing as Serah, Lightning’s sister, and a new character Noel. You’ll be up against a new boss, Atlas, and his purge of Gran Pulse while searching for Lightning, whom many people believe to be dead. A Moogle, names Mog, will also be joining the party. Mog will help with battles by transforming into a bow and arrows for Serah to wield. No other cast members from the original have officially made an appearance, but I believe I saw Hope’s boomerang in this trailer.
Look for Final Fantasy XIII-2 to hit Japan this December and then the US in January 2012 for PS3 and Xbox 360.
