Chibi-Robo!: Photo Finder Releasing on North American 3DS eShop January 9

Posted on December 18, 2013 AT 03:00pm

It’s been more than six years since Nintendo’s diminutive droid made an appearance on Western shores, but in a bit of a surprise announcement during today’s Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that Chibi-Robo!: Photo Finder will release in North America on the eShop Jan. 9 (a demo will be available the same day).

The game, which hit Japan in July, features the 4-inch-tall cult GameCube hero traveling back in time to the present day and photographing “NostalJunk”—mundane household items like toilet-paper rolls, coffee cups, and electrical outlets—to help a discerning curator open up a NostalJunk museum. Players will use the 3DS camera to snap pictures of these items that match certain in-game silhouettes, growing the museum bit by bit. If this all sounds a bit wacky, the trailer below should help illuminate the concept.
