THE BUZZ: The Entertainment Software Rating Board has one main function: To create, maintain, and put into place a ratings systems for electronic gaming. It also seems to serve another purpose—revealing upcoming releases before they’ve been officially revealed.
The latest leak from the ESRB comes in the way of two Square Enix PS1 releases that look poised to hit the PlayStation Store as digital downloads in the near future. Those two titles? Chrono Cross, the pseudo-sequel to the SNES RPG Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy Origins, which brought together updated versions of Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II.
EGM’s TAKE: I don’t have much of an opinion on Final Fantasy Origins, but I’ll happily re-purchase Chrono Cross. As the game was very, very different from Chrono Trigger, many people out there didn’t give it an honest chance; however, I myself found it to be a pretty awesome and forward-thinking JRPG that also happened to have a fantastic soundtrack. So, bring it on!
