Lester Speight, the voice actor behind Augustus Cole, has been contacted by Black Tusk Studios about reprising his role in the upcoming Gears of War title on Xbox One, according to a tweet.
When asked by a fan on Twitter (via Reddit) if he’d been contacted by the developer about reprising his role as the Cole Train, he simply replied, “Yup!”
Cole is a former Thrashball player and member of the COG forces who has appeared in all four Gears of War titles to date.
Back in May studio manager Rod Fergusson revealed that the new Gears of War title is only 100 days into development. “It’s only been 100 days,” he said. “I can’t go into a lot of depth about a lot of things. This isn’t going to be the place where I announce the name of the next game and all these sorts of things. Obviously it’s going to take some time to get to a point where we can do some stuff like that.”
“We are in what we would call the concept/prototype stage, so again, we’re really super early,” he added.
Fergusson added that the team would try to stick to established cannon where possible. “Yes, as best we can,” he said when asked about it. “I believe fun is greater than canon. That’s not to say I’m going out of my way to destroy canon, but if I get to a situation that may invalidate a comic book or a book, I’m going to make that fun decision.”
