It’s a match that probably nobody ever imagined, but OVERKILL—the developer of PAYDAY: The Heist—has announced that they’ll be working with Valve on some sort of collaboration with Left 4 Dead.
First, here’s the statement on the official OVERKILL website, from Game Director Ulf Andersson:
“As perceptive gamers will have noticed, several hints have recently been dropped into PAYDAY The Heist, which has led to various rumors. We are excited to be able to confirm that an in-depth collaboration between OVERKILL and Valve is currently in production.
We are working on a very cool blend of PAYDAY and Left 4 Dead. I am sure it is so exciting that it will have some players check into the hospital before we are done.”
What collaboration could you do between these two games? I mean sure, they’re both first-person shooters, but otherwise their themes and goals are very, very different. Characters from one game appearing in the other perhaps?
That’s a little boring—let’s go crazy and have more fun speculating! How about breaking into a bank to rob it—only to find out that the bank is run and staffed by zombies! Or, I know—what if it’s zombies who are staging the bank robbery, as they’re tired of being too poor to afford top-quality brains! Or what if you’re in a bank, pulling off your heist, and then when you emerge with the cash, suddenly you find the world to be under a zombie infestation!
Really, I’ve no clue. Tell us what you think a potential Left 4 Dead + PAYDAY: The Heist collaboration could result in in the comments below.
