You may have forgotten due to all the media hype surrounding Aliens: Colonial Marines, but Total War developer Creative Assembly is also working on an Aliens title.
Little has been heard from the title since its announcement last year, however a recent job listing posted by the developer seems to suggest that the game will be coming to next-gen consoles.
The job advert is looking for a multiplayer/gameplay programmer, with the successful applicant set to work on, “a AAA multi-platform title on current and future generation consoles set in the Alien universe.” It doesn’t take a genius to come to the conclusion that the game is in development for the next-generation.
However, the wording does suggest that it will developed for the current-gen also, meaning it should release around the same time as the next gen launch. Most developers work on both generations during the early part of a new system’s lifecycle, to maximize sales during the transition.
Creative Assembly has previously stated that it hopes the game will be a peer to the Dead Space franchise, which means Aliens jumping out of vents and running behind you a lot. One thing is for certain, it will have a lot to live up to once Colonial marines hits.
