Crowd Fund Some Videogame Crew Necks

Perhaps you’re tired of reading about crowd-funded videogame projects. I’m certainly tired of reporting on them. But what about crowd-funded videogame clothing?

Gametee, not unlike Fangamer and the Penny Arcade Store, produces video game merchandise and apparel. So far, their line includes T-shirts, mugs, and prints from Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Minecraft, Halo, Dishonored, Pokémon, and the Elder Scrolls series.

Why do they need crowd funding? Basically to fuel production of their line—some of which is pretty neat, I’ll admit (though I’m concerned about legal issues, especially with Halo-related merch, since Bungie pushes their own line pretty hard through their own store).

There are fifteen pledge options, ranging from a “warm thank you for supporting Gametee” to exclusive T-shirts—up to eight if you want to throw down about £200.

Here’s their Kickstarter video mission statement:

Chris Holzworth has wanted to report on and critique games all his life. He first cut his teeth writing for enthusiast sites such as RPGFan, then took a break from gaming to study English, creative writing, and linguistics at Rutgers University. Started out as EGM's obligatory east coast correspondent before selling out and moving to the west coast. Chris is particularly keen on examining narrative structure, character development, and writing in video games. Frequently opens mouth, inserts foot, often where twittery things happen: @chrisholzworth. Meet the rest of the crew.
