THE BUZZ: Crysis 2 is the most pirated PC game of 2011, with Gears of War 3 taking the most pirated Xbox 360 crown.

According to research by TorrentFreak, Crysis 2 was downloaded 3,920,000 times since its release in March 2011, Modern Warfare 3 came in second with 3,650,000 and Battlefield 3 rounded out the top three with 3,510,000 downloads. Gears of War 3 was the most downloaded Xbox 360 title with 890,000 downloads, Modern Warfare 3 was second with 860,000 and Battlefield 3 third with 760,000 downloads. No figures were given for PlayStation 3 titles as the numbers were so low.

EGM’s TAKE: These figures show the state of PC piracy: four million is a lot of missed sales. Though these numbers don’t directly translate into lost sales it does show how deep the problem goes
