THE BUZZ: Crytek is set to announce a new console/PC game next month according to GM of games, Nick Button-Brown.
Button-Brown revealed that the game is set to be announced in April and described it as, ”the best of that kind of project we’ve ever done.”
“There are so many things I can’t talk about,” he told CVG. ”A big part of our business is big budget console and PC games. We are doing all these other things, but they’re on top of that and we’re doing them because they’re interesting.”
“We still want to deliver the highest quality that we can, wherever we go,” he added. “You know about Homefront, you know about Ryse. We are working on another project… [laughs] all three of which are looking really good.”
When pressed for more details he added, ”The other project looks absolutely fantastic – I mean, genuinely the best of that kind of project we’ve ever done. It looks spectacular, the team are doing really, really well and it’s just really nice to see the team really enthusiastic about what they’re doing. They’re really happy.”
Last month a job listing suggested that EA is currently working on a new game with Crytek.
EGM’s TAKE: Now the obvious game that pops into everyone’s head is Crysis 3, right? Well what if we consider another possibility, one that the team has hinted at over and over again, Timesplitters 4. Crytek has hinted many times that they are keen to bring this series back and numerous reports have surfaced stating that it is indeed in development. We feel that Timesplitters would make much more financial sense considering that Crysis 2 never managed to live up to its predecessor.
What do you think the mystery title could be? Leave your thoughts below.
