The impressive showing of Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 2018 had gamers expecting a next-gen launch for the game, but developer CD Projekt RED has confirmed it is aiming to launch the game during the current generation of platforms.
Game Informer recently sat down with quest designer Patrick Mills to discuss the many mysteries of Cyberpunk, including when fans can expect it. When asked if the game would miss out on this console generation, Mills assured us that PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are the target launch consoles.
“I’ve heard a number of people say that,” Mills said. “The current console generation is what we’re aiming for. We are aiming for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and of course PC as well.”
In the same interview, Mills revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 will not support a non-lethal playthrough. There will be many options in how players tackle objectives, but eventually, killing will be unavoidable. Other details to recently surface about the game include info on its color-coded gear rarity system, and the fact that multiplayer won’t launch with the game, but could be added sometime after. We’ve also learned that, unlike Anthem, Cyberpunk will have romance options that let players hook up with whomever they click with.
Cyberpunk 2077 does not yet have a release date, but it will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
