Daylight Haunting PC, PS4 Early 2014

Posted on June 7, 2013 AT 06:00am

First-person thriller Daylight is coming to PC and PS4 early 2014, publisher Atlus and developer Zombie Studios announced today.

Daylight is one of the first games powered by Unreal Engine 4, and features a story written by Jessica Chobot of IGN fame. In the game, players assume the role of a female protagonist (voiced by Chobot) trapped within an abandoned hospital. Armed only with a cell phone, players must navigate the haunted halls of the hospital in search of a means of escape. The title also features procedurally generated levels, making supernatural scares highly unpredictable.

“Since showing off a pre-alpha build of Daylight at PAX East the attention on the project has grown tremendously!” Jared Gerritzen, studio director at Zombie Studios, said in the press release. “With the gained attention, we were approached with the opportunity to partner with Atlus to help release Daylight worldwide on Steam and exclusively to the PlayStation 4 system.”

Daylight will take advantage of the PlayStation 4′s Share feature and integrated PlayStation Eye by capturing images at the exact moments scares happen in the game, then sharing those scares on social networks (should players choose). Players can also stream gameplay clips to friends using the Share function.

Zombie Studios will also be releasing their free-to-play first-person shooter Blacklight: Retribution on PlayStation 4 when the system launches this fall.

Until then, get a sense of Daylight’s atmosphere through the announcement trailer embedded below.
