DayZ creator Dean Hall has stated that he would like to see a console version of the game “sooner rather than later.”
“Moving onto consoles would be a natural step but it’s important that the PC comes first and delivers on its promise of experimentation,” he told MCV in a recent interview. “I think there is a potential for strong sales on the console.
“I’d be excited to see what could be done with DayZ on a good console port. It’s an exciting time with the release of the new consoles so I hope we can find a timeframe sooner rather than later.”
This isn’t the first time that hall has mentioned a console port of DayZ. At the time he also said that the PC version would need to be in the “right state” before this can happen. “We need to get the PC build to the right state, where then it can pull across, and I think everybody recognises that there’s no sense in starting to pull something across that’s dramatically changing all the time,” Hall said back in April. “So really our focus is on delivering the right stuff and answering all the questions as we go through the Early Access with the PC.”
DayZ is currently available via Steam Early Access for $29.99.
