DayZ creator Dean Hall has promised that the game’s difficulty will increase as new features are added, in a recent Reddit AMA.
“The plan is to increase the difficulty significantly as new functionality comes online (such as throwing and improvised weapons, hunting, bow and arrow,” he said when questioned on the longevity of survival games.
Hall also added that modes of transport such as helicopters will be added after normal vehicles, which will work similarly to normal items in the game, allowing for attachments to be built for them. ““Vehicles will be done based on the architecture we are doing for items/weapons now (i.e. attachments). So it’s in progress really. We are replacing the physics system for items (throwing, etc…) and this new middleware will be used for vehicles also,” he said.
“Bases will take longer. Barricades will happen first,” he added. “I think helicopters and small aircraft will be important. But they should be very complex to maintain.”
Hall also mentioned that the current alpha version of DayZ is only 20 percent of what will be included in the final version.
