Dead Island Creators Are Developing A Violent New Medieval-Era Game

Techland is hard at work on their follow-up to Dead Island, and they’re taking a smart route by kicking off a development blog to track their progress. Curiously, the game’s based on a popular user mod, and takes place in the Medieval Ages.
Dubbed “Sharpen Your Axes”, the blog in question already has some concept art and a fan vote currently in progress that will determine the look of the Necromancer class:
Our main goal is to make a game we can all enjoy playing so don’t expect unicorns and fairies – we prefer breaking through hordes of undead minions only to slaughter their devilish and loathsome masters in a bloody boss-fight. To achieve that we’ll use our experience already gained in game development and enhanced technology from Dead Island. We believe that we can make something really unique and thrilling and share it with you. Keep your fingers crossed.
And one more thing – we won’t be asking for your money on Kickstarter :)
No unicorns or fairies? That’s a shame, Techland—now I’m suddenly a lot less interested in this Project Hell idea.
Apparently, the idea behind this occurred when modder “MZM” added swords and magic to the Dead Island source code. Techland’s team thought it was fun, and ran with the idea to its logical conclusion.
