Dead Island: Riptide Will Have Darker Plot, More Natural Setting

While not getting too specific on what players should be expecting from the upcoming sequel to 2011′s open-world zombie adventure Dead Island, Deep Silver creative director Sebastian Reichert has given some hints of how Dead Island: Riptide is shaping up.
In an interview with VG247, Reichert noted that the game will have an overall darker tone plot-wise this second time around:
“Plot-wise, ‘darker’ is good description of where we’re heading, but of course we stay bright and beautiful on the outside. We are taking a very special step in this instalment and we are looking forward to see how the fans react to it.”
As well, Reichert talked about the new setting for Riptide—Palanai—and how its locations will offer up more natural environments versus the more man-made beauty of the original game’s island of Banoi. He also promised that fan shouldn’t worry about the Palanai being too similar to Banoi:
“No worries guys, with the flooded jungle the whole experience of this game will feel really different. The additional defensive gameplay, the boat, and the advanced character development will make sure that you are diving into a different experience.”
