Dead Island’s Sales Numbers Quite Alive
Posted on December 20, 2011 AT 04:16pm
THE BUZZ: Deep Silver announced today that open-world zombie survival game Dead Island has been quite a hit at retail.
The publisher revealed that 3 million copies of Dead Island have been sold-through so far. In September, Deep Silver noted that 2 million copies of the game had been shipped, but didn’t announce how many of those copies were actually sold to customers. So, to confirm 3 million copies sold between that point and now isn’t shabby.
EGM’s TAKE: Though the game has had its share of issues post-launch, zombie fans still seem to really be taking to Dead Island. I haven’t had a chance to try it out myself, but being a hardcore lover of zombie fiction, I’d love to see more open-world games build around that core subject. So, good for Dead Island, and hopefully I get the chance to give it a proper play-through soon.
What about you? Do you think Dead Island deserves the success it has received so far? Let us know!
