Dead Space 3 Adds Fan-Made ‘Tools Of Terror’ Contest Weapon

Posted on October 3, 2012 AT 02:30pm

In order to promote Dead Space 3‘s new weapons crafting system, EA and Visceral Games asked fans to submit their ideas for some inventive, lethal Necromorph-killing weapons. It looks like they have a winner.

From EA’s official Dead Space site, the developers have announced that the “HUN-E1 Badger”—a gun configuration that shoots flaming rivets—is now part of Issac’s weaponry:

“Getting in close quarters with the HUN-E1 Badger will cost an arm and a leg, literally. The HUN-E1 Badger is capable of shooting flaming rivets at all unfortunate enough to be in front of it. If anything is brave or stupid enough to get within arm’s reach of the HUN-E1 Badger it will get cut down to size.”

The Upper Tool consists of a Telemetry Spike and Conic Dispersal with ammo support, perfect for keeping charging Necromorphs at bay. The Lower Tool is made up of a Hydraulic Cutter and Precision Adapter with a flame glaze to cut down and torch anything that gets through the initial shots.

As shown in the video below, a great deal of Dead Space 3‘s gameplay will be focused around modifying weapons in order to efficiently make use of their stopping power, ammo, reload speed, and so on.

Caleb Mendoza, who got the idea for his weapon’s name from a viral YouTube video (NSFW), will be immortalized by heaving his image in the game. Hopefully, his likeness isn’t used for something gruesome like a Necromorph’s hindquarters.
