The Surge, Deck 13’s sci-fi action-RPG, has received an official launch trailer.

“Megacorporation CREO works to reverse the devastating effects of climate change, but the facility is hit by a mysterious, catastrophic event. After awakening from a blackout caused by this disaster, Warren is thrust into a deadly new world. Robots gone haywire, insane augmented co-workers and rogue AI – it seems like everything wants him dead,” the developer explains.

In The Surge, players will need to make use of vertical and horizontal attacks to target and dismember specific limbs and take down enemies. Dismembering and collecting enemy limbs to upgrade the exo-suit is the key to surviving the journey through the deadly CREO facility.

Publisher Focus Home Interactive recently revealed that The Surge will support PlayStation 4 Pro via a day one update. This update will enable support for dynamic 4K resolution at 30 FPS or 1080p at 60 FPS on Sony’s upgraded console.

The Surge launches May 16th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
