Deep Down ‘Prologue’ Trailer Takes Future New Yorkers to a Monster-Filled Past

Posted on December 27, 2013 AT 02:00pm

A new trailer for Capcom’s free-to-play dungeon crawler Deep Down (which, last I checked, is still the working title) shows armored knights battling monsters with swords and sorcery.

The trailer (embedded below) is short, and cinematic rather than indicative of gameplay, butit does very vaguely play up Deep Down’s main conceit. Set in New York City in the year 2094, players explore the depths of the city’s underground, touching magical artifacts, objections, and sections of the environment in order to transport back to a past in which monsters and treasure are plentiful in and populate The City that Never Sleeps.

Deep Down is set to launch exclusively on PlayStation 4 sometime 2014. For more on Capcom’s weird mix of Assassin’s Creed and Dark Souls (I’m really reaching for comparisons, here, and no doubt being reductive or tenuous at best), check out Ray’s hands-on impressions from this past Tokyo Game Show.
