The secrets and surprises of Destiny 2‘s next expansion, Forsaken, won’t be uncovered until it launches this fall, but Bungie might have provided a hint about one of the major enemies that players will be confronting.
As part of GuardianCon’s recent charity event, Destiny Community Podcast member Patrick Holtzmann agreed to get a Destiny 2-themed tattoo on his backside after fans hit a donation milestone. While that might seem unrelated to Forsaken, lead raid designer Joe Blackburn’s tweet about the tattoo might have been a sneaky way of giving players a hint about the new raid boss.
As seen in the tweet below, Blackburn referred to the Forsaken raid boss as a female and that “she’s way too pretty to go where that tattoo is going.”
So @Holtzmann_YT is now asking if he can get the final Forsaken Raid Boss on his tattoo, but I don’t want people pantsing him for spoilers, and also I think she’s way too pretty to go where that tattoo is going.

Of course, the designer’s tweet could have purely been a joke, but many Guardians on Reddit have already started to come up with identities for the boss. Many wrote the obvious answer is Mara Sov, the Awoken queen. Not only is she the sister of Uldren Sov, who we know will kill Cayde-6 in the opening moments of the expansion’s story, but she has also been a character who has made questionable alliances in the past. However, others have voiced that while it’s likely Mara will play a significant role in Forsaken‘s plot, there is another iconic female character that would better fit the bill.
Destiny 2 has been filled with references to Oryx’s sister, Savathun, which could mean Bungie has been preparing players for her arrival in Forsaken. It’s already been revealed that the Taken will be running rampant throughout the Dreaming City, too, which adds more weight to the theory that she, the Taken queen, could be the raid boss awaiting Guardians. However, her Hive and Taken connections don’t scream “pretty,” but Blackburn could have been joking about the actual appearance of the boss. With that in mind, some players even took a page from the recent rumors about the Ahamkara appearing in the DLC and suggested that a female dragon will be the final enemy.
The upcoming expansion is only about two months away from launching on September 5th, though, so soon Guardians should be able to go face to face with the mysterious raid boss. Until then, players can get a better look at some of the other powerful enemies they’ll be going up against in the DLC, including the gang of Barons that will aid Uldren in killing Cayde-6.
Destiny 2 is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Forsaken is set to launch on September 5th.
