Bungie has offered a bleak preview of the events to come in Destiny 2‘s Forsaken expansion.

Revealed during PlayStation’s E3 showcase, it appears the upcoming DLC for the sci-fi shooter will include the demise of the Hunter Vanguard, Cayde-6. As seen in the trailer below, Uldren Sov, the Awoken prince, delivers a fatal blow to the fan-favorite character.

According to Bungie’s description of the clip, it will be up to the player’s Guardian to avenge Cayde-6’s death, explore new regions of the Reef, awaken new powers, collect powerful weapons, and uncover lost Awoken secrets. Players will be able to jump into the DLC on September 4th.

While the plot of Forsaken seems to kick off with a darker tone than the previous expansions, the developer has promised several exciting new features will be introduced as well. Apart from the new areas of the Reef, a brand new 4v4 mode called Gambit will offer a unique PvP and PvE experience. Of course, new gear will also be introduced, including the all-new weapon archetype, the Legendary bow.

Destiny 2 is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
