A small, newly discovered detail in Destiny 2‘s gameplay reveal trailer could prove to be a big hint for the return of Iron Banner multiplayer events.
The Iron Banner was a monthly PvP event in which players could take on the game’s Crucible competitive multiplayer mode without the normal equalization of gear stats. Apart from letting players try out their best gear against each other, the events also rewarded players with some of the game’s best equipment.
It has so far been unclear if the Iron Banner would make the cut for Destiny 2, but a recent tweet from streamer Gigz offers plausible evidence of its return. Images pulled from the shooter’s first gameplay trailer depict a Hunter wearing gear with the Iron Banner symbol emblazoned on it.

Despite the plausibility of this theory, there has been no official confirmation of the Iron Banner’s return by developer Bungie.
The images also exhibit a katana being wielded by the Hunter, one of the many unique melee weapons now revealed for the game. Players can learn even more about the sequel from its E3 2017 demo during Sony’s press briefing, which will highlight the Hunter’s Arcstrider subclass. A panel will cover even more Destiny 2 details the following day, hosted by Bungie CEO Pete Parson and wrestler The Big Show.
Destiny 2 is slated to launch September 8th on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a PC version coming sometime later. In the meantime, get up to date on Destiny 2 with EGM’s complete guide to everything we know so far.
